Our most special wine is made from grapes grown in El Pocito in Villanueva del Conde, on a steeply sloping terraced hillside with granitic soil rich in quartz at an altitude of 700 to 800 metres. The vineyard was replanted in 1902, so most of the vines used to make this wine date back to that year.

“95 Pale and hauntingly delicate in colour, this is wild, savoury and complex, with wonderful grip and precision and a long, gritty finish.”

In 2016 the spring was cool and fortunately very rainy so that the soil retained a moisture that was necessary in an extremely dry and rather hot summer, especially in July.

The harvest began on 5 September with very healthy grapes, medium acidity and good flavour.

Aromas of ripe red fruit (strawberries), wild flowers, menthol and a very integrated aging point. Fine in the mouth, fresh, silky. It maintains great energy and surprising complexity.

  • Harvest in 10 kg boxes with selection of clusters in the vineyard.
  • Manual grape selection.
Fermentation in steel tanks with native yeasts.
  • Must and wine are always moved by gravity.
  • Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
  • Aged in 500-litre French oak barrels for 13 months.
  • Wine always moves by gravity.
